United Martial Artists for Christ

On March 5th 2004, United Martial Artists for Christ was held at Calvary Chapel High School, in Santa Ana, California. The promoter, Kenpo Black belt Bob Mitchell and his team, put together one of the greatest Martial Artist exhibitions ever seen.

It was an action packed night of demonstrations performed by world class Martial Artists and Image Maker ministries. Over 1400 people showed up to enjoy what ended up being a very exciting and moving night.

The message of Martial Artists for Christ was focused on keeping the communication lines open between parents and their kids. Two special guests of the evening were Pastor Raul Ries, and Chuck Norris. Bob Mitchell’s testimony was a moving story about his younger years of being the mean, tough guy and using scare tactics and intimidation on his opponents. Those of us who know Bob Mitchell, recall him as one of the greatest and scariest fighters of his time. It wasn’t until his wife, Diane, was found to have Uterine and Ovarian Cancer that Bob found his life with our Lord. Bob realized that the only way he could help her was with the help with the true Master, our Lord Jesus Christ.

Bob's vision helped him to create United Martial Artists for Christ. The talent that was showcased that evening consisted of Champions Eric Lee, David Brock, Philip Sahagun, Ted Tubura, Linda Pugliese, Al Garza, Felix Roiles, Shahin Johan-Vash, Deron Mcbee, Gary Kasper, and Tom Sirotnak and too many others to list. Spectators included World Champions Bob Wall, Howard Jackson, and Bob White.

Many testimonies were given during the program. Chuck Norris gave an emotional testimony about his walk with our Lord and savior, and how it changed his life. Youth Pastor John Labelle also gave a great message and testimony. However the highlight of the night was when Pastor Raul Ries gave the closing message and alter call, and over 45 people came down to commit. It was exciting and emotional.

We definitely look forward to the next event, and can’t wait to see what God has in store for this awesome ministry.
