WCL: Western Conference Showdown
September 22, 2006

As announced by World Combat League founder, martial arts legend, and action film and television star Chuck Norris, the WCL has revised its team match ups for its West Coast Playoffs at the University of Texas, Austin's Frank Erwin Center on Friday, September 22nd. In order to maximize the full throttle action of the event, the Texas Dragons will now take the Los Angeles Stars and the Houston Enforcers will square off against the Oklahoma Destroyers as the WCL takes the high-flying, fist-pounding excitement Combat Martial Arts to its limit.

WCL Showdown "We realized that by shifting our team pairings we had the opportunity to present fans with several spectacular match ups," Norris said in making the announcement. "It was just too good to resist. Now, among the world class city versus city action, fans will see Los Angeles' Raymond 'The Real Deal' Daniels, a League leader in scoring efficiency and true fan favorite, in what will be his most challenging match to date when he takes on the Texas Dragons' Lawson Baker. Baker has proven knockout power in both hands and is a devastating kicker. In his WCL debut in Las Vegas, Daniels established himself as one of the League's rising stars with a spectacular first-half knockout with a jump spinning hook kick and a second-half dominant points victory, both against very skilled opponents. This stacks up to be a match fans will not want to miss." Raymond 'The Real Deal' Daniels LA Stars high-flying Raymond "The Real Deal" Daniels

"Equally mesmerizing should be the match between Thomas 'Thunderkick' Longacre of the Okalahoma Destroyers against the Houston Enforcers' Tim Connors," Norris adds. "Longacre is a true warrior with all around ability. He can do it all. His outstanding 2.4 ER (effectiveness ratio) leads the Western Conference. Tim Connors is a monster who towers over his opponents and who is determined to make his own mark in the WCL. It is an explosive combination that should have the crowd on its feet."

The World Combat League is the only full-contact, team Combat Martial Arts league in the country. Each WCL team is comprised of six fighters (five men and one woman) who have mastery of one or more of three different disciplines: Kickboxing, Karate, and Tae Kwon Do. Each fighter also holds a spot in one of six predetermined weight classes so that any league team can compete on even ground against any other league team. There is no wrestling or grappling to slow down the action. WCL athletes use lightning fast combinations of boxing, bone crunching impact of kicks, along with devastating power of knee strikes, to knock out their opponent or score points that will accrue to a team victory.

Doors open at 7:00 p.m. and matches begin at 8:00 p.m. -- featuring all headliner action and no under card. Tickets are on sale at the Frank Erwin Center Box Office or by logging on to www.uterwincenter.com . WCL's development season city against city "Turf Wars" will culminate in the League's first North American Championship matching the two highest ranking teams in total wins and points from each division. The event, which will take place at the end of the year, will also mark the WCL's return to the Erwin Center. Stay tuned for the announcements of the date and match ups.
