On January 15th 2007 Roman Catholic Priest Fr. Phillip Cascia passed away after a long illness.

Fr. Cascia held the UN-presented record of being the perish leader at St. Anthony's Church in Prospect Connecticut for over 25 years. He took a brief temporary position in Southington, Connecticut. He was recently transfered to OUR LADY OF MERCY church in Plainfield Connecticut. Where one of the first things he did to turn the failing church around was to institute a FREE youth martial art program.

As most of you know Fr. Cascia was the founder of INTERSPORT USA an organization that promoted peace through sports. He had baseball, basket ball, wrestling, karate and other sports teams visit the U.S. as well as U.S. teams visit other countries. Such as China, Russia, Cuba, Vietnam, Uzbeckistan, Siberia and other countries all over the world. He was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts. Our UFAF KARATE team was the first karate team to visit Russia during communism. Before that historic visit, martial arts were banned in Russia.

Fr. Cascia was an accomplished boxer, wrestler and martial artist, earning a 6th degree black belt in Tang Soo Do and a 2nd degree in Rossi Kuntao. Awarded by Kuntao Grand Master Joe Rossi himself.

Fr. Cascia will be missed the world over. He funded orphanages in Brazil and Russia. He had so many projects working....This is only the tip of the iceberg. If you knew "PADRE' " ( as Danielle and I call him) You knew he was a tremendous force of GOOD WILL!!!

Keep him in your PRAYERS!
